General Membership Meeting – June 5, 2013

I)                    INTRODUCTIONS- President Weissgerber called to order at 7:08pm

II)           SECRETARY MINUTES & TREASURER REPORTS

III)                 ANNOUNCEMENTS:

River City Fitness: The owners of this new establishment joined SRG and wanted to let residents know about their gym and MMA facility now open next to Soulard’s.

District Captain Deeba (madeeba@slmpd.org): Robberies down for the year, but up in the past month.Neighborhood bars can help by policing patrons better. Will be working to keep residents abreast of crime news so that pressure can be put on judges for harsher punishments.

Officer Miller: 11 arrests in past month. Thefts from motor vehicles have been declining. DWI arrests were up 75% month-over-month. Tools recently stolen in Kosciusko.Hoodlums were captured and charged. The Circuit Attorney’s office has been treating purse snatchings and misdemeanors. Working to try and change this. MGI office had AC units stolen from roof. White male (possibly Russian) 39 y/o arrested for recent purse snatching at local establishment. GCI had 3 arrests in the recent week.

STAR Awards presentation: Awards go to Jeremy Mehrle, Margi Koors and Jay Morris for service to neighbourhood and SRG.

Soulard Concert Series: Be sure to check out the concerts throughout the summer in Market Park. Thank you to Cathy Wheldon for coordinating.

Residential Promotion: Practiced CVC presentation

 

IV)           NEW BUSINESS:

Paul Kjorlie: Working to inform bus companies that their buses can not idle in the neighborhood

V)                   OLD BUSINESS:

Trees: Still working on getting funding for trees

 

VI)           COMMITTEE REPORTS

 

Beautification:  garden Tour Jun 29th. Volunteers needed

Code & Zoning/Plan Review Team (PRT):  Subway at Geyer & 7th is moving forward. Big Daddy’s putting awning over patio. BP Gas station will be renovating. Teaar down existing car wash, move “store” farther back and use vacant building next door as car wash. 1000 Geyer: proposed c-store shot down. Jay Gibbs joined SRG 30 yrs ago today.

Communications: Be sure to check out the new Soulard.org. Upload your Soulard pictures to Flickr. Use Next Door. Mtg every 3rd Wednesday of month.

Fundraising:  Need volunteers for Circus Flora. Need volunteers too for STL UnCorked.

Membership: Social at Market Lofts this week. Scavenger Hunt postponed until Fall. Grizzlies Game Aug 3-$35. Social at Soulard Coffee Garden

Residential Promotion: See above

Safety: Thanks for participating in safety walk. Please continue urging people to use porch lights
