Minutes July 2017 SRG General Meeting
Date: July 5, 2017

The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by President Wade Weistreich

Board and General Meeting Minutes
June General Membership and meeting minutes were available for review. Richard Eaton motioned to approve the minutes and Lisa Otke seconded. The June General Membership meeting minutes were approved. The Treasurer’s Report was available for review. Jeremy Mehrle motioned to approved the minutes and Dan Lanham seconded. The Treasurer’s report was approved.
Guest Presentations
Captain Shawn Dace
Crime is up in the city, especially robberies. Pedestrian checks and car stops are the only deterrents. Fair St Louis occurred the past weekend which lead to a decrease street presence of police officers.
Community Improvement District (Lisa Otke)
With the proposed CID, there will be an increased 1% sales tax which will stay in Soulard. Phase 1 (Collecting of signatures) is underway. Around July 18, CID leaders will be knocking on doors asking owners for signatures. Signature pages must be notarized. There will be designated locations in Soulard with Notaries.
Old Business
Revised MGI Board Member Selection Criteria
The proposed shall be a SRG member in good standing.
Shall not be a current SRG Executive Board Member (President, President-elect, Secretary, Treasurer) and shall not seek that position during the term of the MGI board service.
Is known to the SRG President to display knowledge of and have involvement with the SRG.
New Business
MGI Board Member (Wade Weistreich)
Gary Toribio has been reappointed to his third term as MGI Board Member on behalf of SRG.
Police Report (Dave Simmons)
3 stolen autos, 1 burglary, 2 robberies(2 carjackings), 8 larcenies (6 car break-ins), 4 property damage reports, 1 arson
Resident reminder: Remember to report stolen golf carts and car break-ins.
Committee Reports
Beautification (Richard Eaton/ Luann Denten)
Garden Tour was a huge success. 275 to 300 people toured the gardens this year. All eight homes have committed for the garden tour next year.
Next month, work will begin on the 9th Street and Sydney triangle.
Communication (Jeremy Mehrle)
No report was given.
PRT/Code and Zoning (Jay Gibbs)
There are four projects which have been approved by City Hall.
1) 1851 Menard: three townhouses
2) 2222 Menard: Star Design
3) 1814-20 South 10th: three townhouses
4) 2330 South 12th: rooftop deck and elevator, 6 car garage parking
Fundraising (Christopher Schwarz)
SRG made $2,500 on Tour de Fat.
The next fundraising meeting will be July 10, 2017 at the Soulard Station. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m.
Membership (Julie Price)
New rosters are available. Membership has been given to the Soulard businesses that continuously donate to the SRG fundraisers. Invitations to join have been sent to 52 other businesses.
The next recruiting event is Founder’s Day Celebration on Saturday, August 12. It will be held at the Soulard Market Park. Festivities will include : a bluegrass band, face painting, free snacks, bounce house, and cooling station. There will also be a flea market. It will be $25 to rent a flea market space.
Soulard Star nomination forms are due September 30. The presentation of the honorees will be during the December SRG general meeting.
Residential Promotion (Luann Denten)
Bastille Day Parade is Saturday, July 15. The mob will gather at Lynch Street Tavern at 4p.m. The parade will begin at 5 p.m. Each bar will offer drink specials. The parade will end with a beheading in Pontiac Park at 6:30 p.m. There will be an afterparty atHistoric Crossroads.
Safety (Dave Simmons)
National Night Out is August 1.
The Safety Walk will be July 24th. It will begin at Joanie’s at 8:30. Twenty four people are needed. The group will focus on lighting. Alderman Jack Coatar will sponsor the first round of drinks following the walk.
Soulard Holiday Decorating Committee (Venessa Kobrin)
We are currently collecting decorations and lights. Please contact Venessa with any donations.
MGI (Billy Tomber)
Gary Toribio has been reappointed and nominated as the President of the MGI Board.

Flag distribution at Soulard Market
Memorial Day Remembrance - 3 gross of small flags were given out on Saturday, May 29.
July 1- 3 more gross were given out.
Flag Day June 14
Over 300 worn and tattered American flags were collected.
June 29 Presentation
The Soulard Ambucs of BKZ Post 422 was presented with $2,000 from the St Louis Women’s Bike Summit at Bike Works.
3rd Friday Happy Hours.
The next will be July 21st with live music by the Alley Mutts. Therese Parker will serve as the guest bartender. We will be serving chicken wings, grilled ham and cheese sandwiches.

90% of funds are spent on patrols. They are currently in contract negotiations with The City’s Finest who will replace GCI.
